<sub>[It's the noise coming from Marco's room that catches Bertolt's attention as he makes the early-morning trudge from the bedroom to inspect the "damage" from the overnight snow. It's not terrible, but he's still going to let Galliard outside later to re-clear the path while getting some energy out. Just because he can't fit inside the cabin doesn't mean he can't have fun around it!

He pauses to yawn, one hand covering his mouth as he lightly raps on the doorframe with his knuckles.]</sub>

Mar--_{[Another yawn, and a shake of his head. Come on, wake up brain!]}--co? S'everything okay in there?

[ marco is only too excited to stand and shuffle his way over to the taller boy. teddy chatters and immediately skitters up the back of marco's shirt to hang over his shoulder, while bertolt's chandelure follows them.

in his hands is the growlithe, still yawning from working her way out, but she gives another tiny squeak-yap when she sees them. ]

The egg you gave me hatched!

[ viola, safely away from baby pokemon on the bed, rolls her eyes. ]

Bertolt has to force himself to stop midway into another yawn - they're contagious - and for a moment he just stares at it.]</sub>

...I always forget how small they are at first.

_{[They start out so small, tiny fluffy and extra adorable! It's not fair!]}

When did it hatch?

[ teddy actually reaches down, making little grabby hand motions and chattering. marco, after an unsure moment, hands it up, and teddy immediately wraps the baby up in his fur, giving her head a little groom... on marco's shoulder.

marco gives a little laugh, and looks at bertolt. ]

Just now? I woke up to the egg cracking and Teddy making a lot of noise.

At least he warned you. Sometimes mine sleep through it and let me deal with it when I wake up.

_{[He'll never get over how much bigger Teddy has gotten compared to how he had been as a Sentret. How much fur does he have, exactly? Though it's bound to be great in this sort of weather! He's a free scarf!]}

I... Do you like it? I know I didn't tell you what it'd hatch into, but Marcel had his heart set on you.

[ he's a lovely free scarf, and he got marco used to carrying around all that extra weight as a sentret. clearly, he does well with younger pokemon, too. unlike viola.. who is still looking at the whole affair with affront.

marco gives bertolt a shy little smile, clearly pleased. ]

I love it. Them? I love them. Armin and I were talking about how I should get more types in my roster.. but this is so much better. They're one of Marcel's?

Yeah. His and Freja's. I think she must've only had the one because I haven't found any others yet.

_{[Which is totally fine with him! It's five less things to worry about, and hopefully one less chewed up sweater!]}

Though you've got more of a variety than I do, I think. Most of mine seem to be either fire types or rock and ground. On, uh... On the up side, Growlithe can be pretty versatile. Arcanine, too.

[ marco reaches up to gently pet the new pokemon, who is living for all the attention she's already getting. ]

That might be true, but I don't want to get caught with a weak point. [ the reasons for that... sadly obvious, although marco doesn't linger over them. ] You think they're gonna get to be as big as Marcel?

_{[You know what? He's going in for a little chin scratch, too. It's so hard to resist.]}

You'll be just fine. I took on a few gyms with Marcel as my front. He actually took care of the gym in Azalea more or less by himself when he was a Growlithe, and I had only been here for... Two? Maybe three months?

I think it might, though. I just wouldn't hold it while it evolves if you go that route, and you can probably ask Armin why.

[ why deny yourself the scratch, bertolt? the little pokemon chirps, gumming at bertolt's finger after a moment with her baby teeth.

marco gives a little laugh. ]

After Viola, I plan on keeping any evolution stones far out of reach.

You say that now, but just wait until Marcel starts to weasel his way into your room at night and you get addicted to having a walking furnace. Or it somehow finds a stone and gets into it.
