I've never seen another one, I'm afraid. They may well be rare. I don't think her kind lives on the mainland; at least, my friend implied as much.

I-I mean, I don't... mean to imply anything by that, but, it... If something is rare, shouldn't you cherish it?

[purramedic]

[He doesn't seem offended at any implication.]

That's a good attitude to have, actually. [In a way.]

It isn't so simple, though. Suffice to say, I'm not the best suited to take care of her, and I'd like to see her happy.

_{[Granted he's the sort to cherish just about anything, it only goes double for something uncommon. On the rare occasion he could get his hands on chocolate back home, he always did his best to make it last for as long as he could.]}

Certainly. Not to say that something should only be appreciated if it's rare, but it's good not to take things for granted.

[Vulpix picks her head up and sniffs curiously in Bertolt and Marcel's direction as the boy inquires after her.]

Well, she's very mild mannered and gets along easily with other Pokemon from what I've seen. I don't know how she is with battling; she hasn't seemed too pressed to train, but then, I haven't encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone.

_{[More than he likes to admit to himself, really.]}

Freya was like that when I first got her. She was terrified of the idea of it, but she's gotten more, uh... into it, I think, since she evolved? But she's not crazy like some of Jean's are. I'm still not sure how I feel about fighting with them myself to be honest.

[purramedic]

[He gives a knowing laugh.] I think it would be difficult to achieve Blitz's level of... enthusiasm, for one.

I was very troubled with the idea at first, but most of them seem to have a good nature about it. Surely it isn't too awful if they all enjoy themselves and have their injuries promptly treated.

[Is it possible to beam at the thought of that angry ball? Apparently.]

I first spoke with Jean about a month after arriving here, when I called Blitz a Pokeball with a face. He didn't like that much.

_{[He still doesn't know how Jean lets him get away with so much. He's waiting for the day he gets zapped awake in the tent he shares with him.]}

It's definitely not the first thing I imagined he'd have after living with him for a couple years. I thought he'd have... I don't know, maybe a dog or something? Like mine.

<sub>[But Marcel is his and he is so very glad for that. Maybe when he starts trying to breed his own, Bertolt will hook Jean up with a little fire dog of his own.]

[Appropriate starters aside, this fox is swayed easily enough by the prospect of treats, though she acts a bit less enthusiastic than she feels. She stands to stretch before jumping down and peering expectantly at Bertolt. Yes, she likes treats, now where are they??]

Our friend got one that really fit him, at least.

_{[Bracing himself against Marcel's side, Bertolt pulls his backpack off and digs around in it as he carefully kneels down to her level, and finally offers out a couple little puffy treats, fresh from the local bakery.]}

Gods, she's much cuter up close like this. Aren't you?

[After giving them a tentative sniff, Vulpix accepts a treat, and the others immediately afterward. It isn't a problem; they're all for her, right? She certainly seems to think so as she lays down at Bertolt's feet and starts to nibble them down one at a time.

Very cute, indeed, and look, she isn't even trying. Anders has to cover his mouth to keep from laughing at her display.]
