What's a "rave"?

Okay so; find an abandoned building, usually a warehouse or somewhere spacious, grab some lights, set it up for sound and have a party there at night. That's a rave. They're cool if you're into partying and can keep an ear out in case trouble kicks up cos there's no like, bouncers or anything.

[ And cos you gotta be able to pick up on when the cops are coming and make a quick exit otherwise your night's gonna end up sucking one way or the other ]

It's a thing where couples go to a party and like, trade partners and do stuff with other couples? Sex and things like that. Doesn't sound like my kinda thing but if everyone's into it then they do them. Or each other.

Yeah, it's not for me either. But some people are into it and they go with other people who are into that and have a good time. So long as no-one's getting hurt by it, then I don't see a problem with it.

Anyway, I'm taking you to a rave, nothing like that. I don't even know if you've got a girlfriend or a boyfriend or whatever! (and you don't have to tell me if you don't want to)

Oh yeah, that does sound like it'd be a bit iffy. You'd have to check if he remembered when he turns up again. Like, I'd say it counted. It happened. But if he doesn't remember you're gonna have to do what you think is best regarding him and your friendship/relationship and all.

Not the most common or just not talked about? Cos, it's pretty open and common where I'm from. Hell, my Dad's gay.

Some people can still be twats about it, but there's laws and shit protecting their rights just like everyone else. If you wanna marry a dude, you can marry a dude. And have a house and adopt a kid and all that. And most people won't give a damn. Some people do, but that's because some people just look for a reason to hate other people, even if it's something as stupid as the colour of their skin.

I never told anyone back home though. I only just recently told Jean and the others because I felt they deserved to know why I was such a mess. They seemed okay with it.

...Do you think it's possible to have that here? Not exactly adopting kids or anything but uh... Getting a house and stuff?

Funny you should mention that, me and a friend, we're real close but we're not dating, have been talking about renting a place together. Divides the cost and it looks like the rent doesn't change much with more people living in a house. So, long as you got room and the landlord is cool, you can have as many people and Pokemon as you want in one place. Long as they get their money and you don't like, detonate the place every weekend, I don't think they'll care what the mix up of people in there is.

And I mean. I've got a guy I'm kinda seeing. We've been out a couple of times to see if there's a spark, see how things go and all. So I'd say it's all very possible here. And if it wasn't, I'd strive to make it possible. After some of the things that have happened back home to people I love, I ain't gonna stand to be in a place where they'd be treated poorly cos of something as petty as who they love.
