Bertolt!

[Someone got a great idea while he was sleeping, and now that he's awake, he absolutely needs to talk about it. He needs to talk about it to the extent that he's climbing on Bertolt's bed and trying to shake him awake.]

Bertolt, wake up! I need to borrow Bubblegum!

_{[Bertolt is already starting to curl up when he feels the bed shift, his face burying itself deeper in his pillow. He doesn't know what time it is, but he's decided it's too early.

When he hears his name too, Bertolt starts to groan, but that groan quickly shifts into a high-pitched protesting whine the second he starts being shaken. Noooooooooooo--]}

Nnnnnnnn...

Bert! This is important! Wake up!

[Shake shake shake. He doesn't have time for your shenanigans today, Bertolt! Get your ass up!]

_{[He groans again, one leg flopping out from under the blankets and sort of hangs over the side of the bed as he's shaken. Whyyyyyyyy?}]

...S'anything on fire?

[Jean ducks out of the way when Bertolt moves his leg, deftly avoiding being kicked. Sharing a tent for almost a year has left him pretty skilled at getting out of the way of Bertolt's flailing limbs.]

No, nothing's on fire.

[Dammit, now he's just going to go back to sleep! Jean scowls in frustration, then brightens. He looks over his shoulder and makes a clucking noise, then bends to scoop Andrea up off the floor.]

Go get him. Under the covers. Put your nose on his back if you can.

[She wiggles in understanding, and Jean lets her go to burrow under the covers. Enjoy an ice fox getting all close and personal, Bertolt.]

_{[Bertolt grumbles a little in approval when there's confirmation that nothing is on fire, his legs stretching out and toes popping before he draws them back onto the bed. There's no fire, so that's good - he can go back to sleep and not have to worry about whether or not Borf let a few embers go wild or Marcel getting too rough with one of the bathroom towels he had deemed as a new toy.

He even bunches the pillow under his arms and buries his face into it. Everything is quiet now, so it's fine, right?

It's something Bertolt is more than happy to believe and he starts to let sleep reclaim him.]}

_{[And then something wet touches his back.

Something wet and freezing.

The shriek that rips out of Bertolt's throat is less than flattering, and he practically launches himself out of the bed in a flurry of sheets and limbs as he goes sprawling onto the floor in a mad attempt to escape. NOT.

COOL.]}

Jean!

[Jean dives out of the way when Bertolt explodes out of his blankets, ducking and covering, and Andrea scampers back into his arms, tail high and with a pleased expression on her face. Did she do good? She's pretty sure she did good!]

Oh, excellent, you're awake.

[No remorse. None at all.]

Can I borrow Bubblegum? I need him... her... it for something.

_{[Mark his words, he is so going to get payback. Maybe with his own Vulpix or even Annie--No, Annie might be a little too much.

Bertolt makes a soft, distressed noise in his throat, one arm moving up to cover his face for a moment. Gods, why? Why, Jean? He thought they were friends!]}

W-What? For what?

[Jean regularly shares his bed with crackly Electrodes and Fat Ice Dog, who is just as cold as Andrea. Bring it on, buddy.]

Incineroars!

[Jean grins, clearly pleased to be talking about this, and offers Bertolt a hand to pull him back up on the bed.]

It's going to be Krieg's birthday soon, and I want to breed Polo so he can have an Incineroar of his own to wrestle with.

_{[Oh, it will be brought! He'd even add Reiner to the mix, but... Bertolt isn't sure he'd be able to sneak under covers anymore. He's a little too big for that. But maybe Doodle...? No, no, he can't function that well when he's cold.

Damn it.]}

_{[Bertolt blinks, reaching up to take Jean's hand and pulls himself back up where he promptly lets himself flop over on his side, still holding Jean's hand for a few moments. Come on, brain. Wake up--]}

What're you going to do with the rest?

[It's Annie or nothing, buddy, unless Bertolt feels like tossing a hubcap into Jean's bed and watching him scramble out of Reiner's way. It would be really fun until Jean got squashed flat.]

Probably see if anyone else wants one, or sell them.

[Who wouldn't want an Incineroar kitten? Incineroars are great!]

_{[He could also throw it under Jean's bed and watch him get flung to the floor from Reiner trying to scramble under the frame! At least a mattress wouldn't hurt as much as having a near half-ton monster climbing over him.]}

...It couldn't hurt, could it? I mean, it'd... be sort of nice for Apollo to have someone to fight with when Polo isn't around.

_{[And maybe give him some breathing space if he wasn't feeling too good. He loves his Machoke, but dear lord he feels smothered sometimes when he goes into Nurse Mode.]}

[That... okay, that would be pretty good revenge. Jean would go flying the moment Reiner started rooting around. Jean is pretty sure that Bertolt won't do it, though; he doesn't really seem like the revenge type.]

Yeeeeeeeeah... have you seen the drawings Polo's been making of Apollo?

[They are... a bit too lovingly rendered. Almost weirdly pornographic. Jean is starting to wonder if there's something going on there, but the two Pokemon in question mostly just act like bros. Bros who occasionally pose for/draw strangely erotic pictures of each other. It's weird.]

_{[He'd leave that to the tent, anyway! At least if the tent collapsed, they'd just have to crawl out of the dreaded 'ruins'.]}

Has he been doing more?

_{[Polo, how scandalous! He's almost a little afraid to see what sort of things he'd churn out if Apollo evolved, but Bertolt hasn't quite figured out how to trigger that yet.]}

Apollo is about all he draws anymore.

[Beautiful, lovingly crafted drawings of Apollo. With every muscle carefully detailed. If Polo hadn't gotten so excited over Shiro's Red, Jean would think he was gay for the Machoke.]

No, that's not true. He started drawing Krieg once, but I made him stop.

[There are limits, okay? Jean had to make it very, VERY clear that Polo is allowed to draw Krieg's face, but not anything else.]

_{[Maybe he's gay for Apollo, but straight for everyone else? How do Pokemon even work in that regard? He does not know.]}

...When you put it like that, it actually sounds sort of cute.

_{[If they weren't so detailed. So very, very detailed.]}

Has he drawn anyone else? B-Besides Apollo and uh... Krieg?

[Polo is a musclesexual.]

[You know what Jean doesn't need to see? Krieg drawn like a Chippendale model!]

He draws the other Pokemon around the camp sometimes. Different people's faces. He's drawn you a couple of times.

[Bertolt's muscles apparently don't pass muster, though; Polo has only drawn his face.]

[Of course Polo has been staring at Bertolt! He stares at everyone, he's a cat!]

I guess he listened when I told him it was inappropriate to draw people the way he draws other Pokemon.

[Or he just hides it better now.]

Anyway. Can I borrow Bubblegum?

_{[That movie had been... a thing. Nobody judge Bertolt for crying over it.]}

[There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Like, damn.]

Of course. [Jean cracks a grin.] Polo is a doof, but he's a good natured one. He'll probably teach her how to flex before she's ready to come back.

[Jean slides off the bed and offers Bertolt a hand. Now that he's gotten what he wants, he's prepared to make nice to make up for waking him up.]

You want one of Ma Kirschtein's omelets for breakfast?

_{[It also gave Bertolt more reasons to avoid boats! What if the ferry sank? What if it hit something really big and everything went down like that?

He doesn't want to die on a dumb door, okay.]}

At least she doesn't have to worry about pulling any muscles. She's sort of... Blobby.

_{[Bertolt shifts around a little so he can properly grab Jean's hand and helps pull himself up, wincing a little as his joints pop. It doesn't hurt, but jeez.]}

Can we fry up what's left of our bacon with it, too?
