[Ford's been taking an extended sort of vacation winding through the sea between Olivine and Cianwood. He meant to go over, fight Chuck, and come right back, but... well. He's had a lot to think about recently and the sea helps like a lot of other things don't. The scenery visible behind him looks like the outside of the Whirl Islands.]

Bertolt! I have something very important to show you. [He turns to look at something off camera, gestures with his free hand-- and a very big snout pokes into frame. Magna is now a fully-evolved Garchomp, looks like.] She evolved just yesterday! Can you believe how big she is? I'm beginning to think your Pokémon just have a tendency toward being oversized.

[Taking an extended sea vacation doesn't mean he isn't training. If anything he's training more. It takes his mind off things.]

No, really, Bertolt feels like he hasn't heard his voice in ages, even though Bertolt knows for a fact that he just sent Ford a few goofy pictures of his Aggron with his head stuck in some hole in a cliffside just the other day. [!!! Magna tilts her head. This very tiny person in the gear is trying to Communicate? That's... charming. She bonks her nose right up against the gear, nudging Ford out of the way until he puts a hand on her snout and pushes her back.]

[She proves this by chomping right down on his fingers. The way he fails to react implies this has happened a lot.]
